Full Rules for 2011 Golfland's Tournament of Champions
1. DESCRIPTION OF THIS EVENT
Contest
of skill. Entry fees are required for every round played. Contestants must
qualify to represent a Golfland course and compete in the course final that
the
contestant qualified on. Two divisions: GENERAL DIVISION ages 12+ and JUINIOR
DIVISION children 11 years of age and younger( age cut off is
September 10,
2011). The top 9 finishers from each of
8 Golfland Bay Area courses in each division will compete in a final
Tournament of Champions to be
held on a Golfland course determined by Golfland
management and will be announced AFTER the course finals are played. (See #4
below for more details.)
NO discounts will be accepted for contestant fees,
qualifying rounds, course championship rounds, and final championship rounds
played by qualifying finalists.
2. ELIGIBILTY
Open to anyone paying the required course
fee. Qualifying rounds cost the normal fee posted for each course,
Course Final rounds and Tournament of
Champions rounds are $10 a piece.
Not open to any Golfland Entertainment Center employees. Not open to professional golfers (PGA members.)
3. PRIZES
Awarded to the top 6 finishers in the
General Division
FIRST PLACE - $1250
SECOND PLACE - $625
THIRD PLACE - $325
FOURTH PLACE - $175
FIFTH PLACE - $75
SIXTH PLACE - $50
Awarded to the top 6 finishers in the
Junior Division
FIRST PLACE - $200
SECOND PLACE - $150
THIRD PLACE - $100
FOURTH PLACE - $75
FIFTH PLACE - $50
SIXTH PLACE - $25
There will be NO ties. Any contestants tied in score or position
will be required to compete in a playoff for that position or prize via
a putting contest or best
score played on a particular hole or number of holes and conducted by a
Golfland Entertainment Center Tournament official or employee.
Ties broken cannot be disputed or re-played.
4. HOW THE CASH PRIZE AWARDS IS DETERMINED
(A) YOU MUST QUALIFY TO REPRESENT A SPECIFIC GOLFLAND BAY AREA COURSE
starts Saturday July 11th, ends Labor Day, Monday September 5th.
a. Select any of 8 courses at 4 Golfland Bay area locations
b. You must play and submit scorecards for at least 4 rounds for the course you want to qualify on.
c. Average score of your 4 best rounds submitted determines your qualifying score; Submit as many as you like.
d. All players scoring an average of 54 or below will play in that course's finals.
(B). COURSE FINALS will be on or around September 10, 2011
a. All qualifiers for each course will play 2 rounds on the same day on the course they qualified on.
b. Top 9 players, based on the lowest total score from the two rounds played from each COURSE FINAL will move to the
Tournament of Champions. Additionally, the following best scorer's will be designated as alternates to the top 9
players. Should a top 9-course finalist NOT be present for the Tournament of Champions registration time any
designated alternate can play in the Tournament of Champions.
c. Ties will be broken by a special putting contest.
(C). TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS, Course To Be Announced after COURSE FINALS are played on or around
Saturday September 24, 2011, weather permitting.
Should a rain out occur, a new date for the Tournament of Champions will be determined.
a. 9 players from the 8 COURSE FINALS for each disvion will be invited to compete for cash prizes.
Fees collected at the course finals and championship round
will be divided as follows: GENERAL DIVISION: $1250 - FIRST PLACE, $625
- SECOND PLACE, $325 - THIRD PLACE, $175 - FOURTH PLACE, $75 - FIFTH
PLACE,
$50 - SIXTH PLACE.
JUNIOR
DIVISION - $200 - FIRST PLACE, $150 - SECOND PLACE, $100 - THIRD PLACE, $75 -
FOURTH PLACE, $50 - FIFTH PLACE,
$25 - SIXTH PLACE
b. 36 selected holes will be played by each player, rankings will
be determined by lowest total score of the 36 selected holes as best
score.
(D) Dates may change due to problems including, but not limited to weather.
5. RULES FOR SCORING
Standard Golfland rules apply. Read the rules written on the scorecard
issued you. It is YOUR responsibility to KNOW the rules and to follow
the rules strictly.
You may use your own putter. You MUST use a Golfland issued mini-golf ball.
6.DISQUALIFICATIONS.
Anyone determined to be cheating by Golfland staff at
Golfland's full discretion may be immediately disqualified. Disqualification will VOID the round played
where cheating was determined to have occurred and can be grounds for barring further play in this event.
Any qualifying round cannot be played alone. There must be a witness to any qualifying round.
Dangerous or erratic behavior can be grounds for disqualification. Not
following Golfland's rules of play written on the scorecard issued to
every player are grounds for disqualification. Missing course finals
start times or Tournament of Champions final start time are IMMEDIATE
DISQUALIFICATIONS. Be early for all announced start
times.
7. ASSUMPTION OF RISK
Player assumes all risk when playing on any Golfland Entertainment Center course.
8. AWARD OF PRIZE MONEY
Winners are responsible for
any applicable taxes and will be required to sign an affidavit
certifying their receipt of prize. Minors, as determined by the state
of
their origin, will be issued their prize check in the name of their
legal guardian who will be required to sign an affidavit certifying
their receipt of prize. Winner's
social security number will be
required and must be given to Golfland Entertainment Centers for tax
purposes. A full list of final prize money winners can
be
obtained by sending a stamped, self addressed envelope to: Tournament
Director, San Jose Golfland, 976 Blossom Hill Rd, San Jose Ca. 95123.
Winner of cash prizes can elect to have their PRIZE money given to the
person or organization of their choice as long as that person or
organization accepts all applicable tax liability.
9. PARTICIPANTS RESPONSIBILITIES
Keep an honest score for every round a contestant plays. Be courteous
to competitors and do not interfere in competitor's play. Know
contestant's standing or ranking within the qualifying method outlined
above. Know the times and dates for course finals and Tournament of
Champions course, course location, date and time. Participants agree
that any decision made by Golfland Entertainment Centers regarding this
event are final and binding and cannot be disputed, including
but
not limited to those who may or may not qualify. Missed finals cannot
be made up. IF YOU QUALIFY FOR A COURSE FINAL BUT DO NOT SHOW UP FOR
THAT
FINAL, YOU ARE DISQUALIFIED. IF YOU PLACE IN THE TOP 9 IN ANY COURSE
FINAL BUT DO NO SHOW UP FOR THE TOURNMENT OF CHAMPIONS YOU
ARE DISQUALIFIED. IT IS THE CONTESTANTS RESPONSIBILITY TO BE ON TIME AND TO KNOW DATES AND PLACES. NO EXCUSES WILL BE ALLOWED.
10. IMPORTANT DATES
Course Qualifying: July 11, 2011 - September 5, 2011
Course Finals: on or around September 10, 2011
Tournament of Champions: on or around September 24, 2011
11. RELEASE OF RIGHTS
Any contestant at any stage of this event agrees that Golfland
Entertainment Centers can use their name, picture, voice, or
audio-video recording of the their play,
image and or appearance as Golfland Entertainment Center determines for
Golfland Entertainment Centers benefit. Contestant releases all rights
to Golfland Entertainment Centers.
12. PROOF OF IDENTITY
Contestant or participant may be required to prove their identity.
Picture identification may be requested. Signature comparison may be
requested at any time by
Golfland
Entertainment Center. A photo of you may be taken by Golfland
Entertainment Centers as proof of your identity. Any contestant
refusing to provide proof of
their identity can be immediately
disqualified for further play and they immediately forfeit any position
or score or placement they may have achieved in this event.
Identity fraud is grounds for immediate disqualification.
